The Ministry champions the small business community and enables the development of small and medium enterprise (SME) firms along a continuum of growth to long-term economic prosperity, from the start-up entrepreneur to the innovative, growth-oriented high performance firm. Working in partnership with private sector stakeholders and all levels of government, the Ministry focuses on activities which support a prosperous and competitive economy by: providing policy and research support services to the Ontario government; providing information, advice and services to Ontario high performance firms, communities, business networks, and other regional development stakeholders; promoting and encouraging entrepreneurship as a viable career option and assisting new entrepreneurs in the evaluation and process of start-up; promoting entrepreneurial skills, qualities and opportunities to Ontarios youth; and promoting the adoption of e-business and new technologies by SMEs.
