: BUILDING HEALTH CARE UP FOR EVERYONE

BUILDING UP HOSPITALS

Ontario’s action plan for health care is centred on putting patients first. For patients and their families, this means faster access to an integrated health care system that keeps them as close to home as possible. To build health care up for everyone, Ontario is focused on increasing patients’ access to primary care, providing more care for people at home and reducing wait times for surgeries, diagnostic procedures and emergency department care.

We’re investing in hospitals so that Ontarians have access to high-quality health care in their communities.

BUILDING UP HEALTH CARE

We’re investing in health care to make everyday life easier for people across the province. As a result, since 2013:

  • More than 1,700 additional doctors and over 5,800 more nurses are providing Ontario families with quality care.
  • The Province is covering the cost of human papillomavirus (HPV) immunizations for boys and girls.
  • Ontario is helping more than 5,000 families each year by covering the cost of one cycle of in vitro fertilization.
  • Seniors 65 to 70 can receive the shingles vaccine for free and 170,000 more seniors are benefiting from expanded drug coverage.
  • 70,000 more children in low-income families have access to free dental services.
  • We’ve added more than 500 beds to long-term care facilities.
