  • Interest Rates on late payments and refunds
  • ONT-TAXS online

Original Returns Used for Quarterly Reporting

Please use the original returns provided by the Ministry of Finance (ministry) for your quarterly reporting purposes. Reproductions of the forms are usually not compatible with our processing system. Any reproduced versions of the return and schedule(s) must be approved by the ministry before use. Ministry contact information is provided later in this NewsFlash.

Our new online service is an easy alternative for carriers or representatives to avoid filing paper returns. More information about ONT-TAXS online can be found later in this NewsFlash.

Renewed Carriers Grace Period

If you have applied for yet do not receive your renewed IFTA licence and decals by January 1, 2010, you may continue to use your 2009 IFTA licence and decals, but only until February 28, 2010.

If the proper documentation is not onboard while travelling, you may receive a fine and be required to buy a single trip permit.

Interest Rates

Interest is charged to your account if payment is not received by the due date. Remember: if the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, your payment is due the next working day.

The interest rate for October 1 to December 31, 2009 will remain at 3% and applies to:

  • late payments, and
  • refunds the ministry has not paid within 90 days.

Please note, interest is compounded daily and will be applied until the last day of the month in which full payment is received.
