Teranet
Teranet Initial Public Offering
Teranet Inc. is a privately incorporated company first established in 1991 to maintain and operate Ontario's land registration system. Teramira became a co-owner in Teranet with the Province in 1993 and the Province sold its 50 per cent interest in August 2003, but retained the right to share in the proceeds of any future sale for a period of three years. On June 16, 2006 the Province realized its rights to share in the proceeds of a future sale when Teranet successfully completed an Income Trust IPO of the company.
Teranet maintains and operates the electronic land registration system in Ontario, under exclusive contract with the Province to 2017. The Government of Ontario operates land registry offices and owns the land registration data in the system.
