Loi de 2008 permettant d'investir dans l'Ontario

Toutes les municipalités de l'Ontario recevront une aide financière au titre de leur infrastructure aux termes de la Loi de 2008 permettant d'investir dans l'Ontario. Le mode de répartition de cette aide financière entre toutes les municipalités sera principalement fonction du nombre d'habitants de chaque municipalité compte tenu des données tirées du recensement de 2006.

Dans certains secteurs géographiques de la province, on retrouve deux paliers d'administration municipale (p. ex., les municipalités de palier supérieur, comme les municipalités régionales et les municipalités de comté, et les municipalités de palier inférieur, comme les villes). Ces deux paliers se partagent la responsabilité des services municipaux. La répartition proportionnelle des fonds prévus se fera alors entre les municipalités de palier supérieur et les municipalités de palier inférieur.

Le niveau de responsabilité en ce qui concerne les investissements en matière d'infrastructure entre les municipalités de palier supérieur et les municipalités de palier inférieur varie considérablement dans la province. Afin d'assurer une répartition équitable des aides financières entre les deux paliers de municipalités, les municipalités de palier supérieur recevront leur part des aides prévues en fonction de leur pourcentage de l'ensemble des investissements dans les immobilisations des municipalités du secteur relevant de leur compétence entre 2001 et 2005. Les municipalités de palier inférieur se partageront le reliquat des aides prévues en fonction du nombre d'habitants. Toutes les municipalités communiquent les données relatives aux investissements au ministère des Affaires municipales et du Logement. Ces données sont conservées dans la base de données relative aux rapports d'information financière.
