People across Ontario are working hard every day to build a better future for themselves and their families — caring for loved ones, helping kids get ahead in school, upgrading their skills and building new companies.
The government is helping make everyday life more affordable. We’re strengthening the public services that matter most — providing 100,000 more children with licensed affordable child care and free prescription drug coverage to children and youth — while lowering the cost of things like electricity and postsecondary education.
household electricity bills, on average, though the proposed Fair Hydro Plan.
100,000 More Children
will access affordable, quality licensed child care.
Free Prescription Medications
for everyone aged 24 and under through OHIP+: Children and Youth Pharmacare.
for more than 210,000 postsecondary students through the new OSAP.
Fair Housing Plan
to help more homebuyers and renters find an affordable place to call home.
How we’re helping
Ontario is taking action by:
- Easing the burden on people caring for loved ones by increasing supports like day programs, respite services, and training and education.
- Providing families with the best possible health care by improving access, reducing wait times and enhancing patient experience.
- Helping seniors cover the cost of public transit with the proposed Ontario Seniors’ Public Transit Tax Credit.
- Supporting 40 new Elderly Persons Centres that provide programming and activities by 2018–19 so seniors can stay healthy, active and independent.
